Locumpedia announced its third-annual Locum Tenens Provider of the Year award winners, and we’re thrilled to share that Dr. Brian Chan Truong, a dedicated OB/GYN and longtime Caliber provider, has been recognized as one of this year’s honorees!
At Caliber, we believe in a provider-first approach to locum tenens. We connect physicians with fulfilling opportunities that align with their goals—ensuring that patients in underserved areas receive the care they deserve. For over eight years now, Dr. Truong has exemplified this mission, providing essential OB/GYN care to rural communities across the country.
Dr. Truong first embraced locum tenens right out of residency. Since then, he's remained deeply committed to serving high-need populations, taking consistent assignments with Caliber in addition to running his own private practice group. His flexibility and willingness to step in during staffing shortages have made him an invaluable resource to the hospitals he serves.
But his dedication doesn’t stop at the U.S. border. In addition to his locum assignments, Dr. Truong spends his free time providing medical care in developing nations, expanding access to healthcare for those who need it most.
"From the start of my career, I have been passionate about serving rural communities and ensuring that patients in underserved areas receive the care they deserve," says Dr. Truong. "Locum tenens has allowed me to dedicate my work to these populations while also giving me the opportunity to extend my medical outreach globally. It’s an honor to be recognized for doing what I love—helping those who need it most."
Brandon Weber, Caliber Senior Director, has seen firsthand the impact Dr. Truong has made over the years and was proud to nominate him for this award:
"Dr. Truong exemplifies the very best of locum tenens—stepping in during hospital crises, adapting seamlessly, and delivering exceptional care in rural and global settings. We're incredibly proud to have been his locum tenens partner for nearly nine years, thrilled to see him recognized for his impact, and look forward to many more years of working together to make a difference."
On behalf of the entire Caliber team—congratulations, Dr. Truong! Your commitment to expanding healthcare access is truly inspiring, and we're proud to support you in your journey.
The Locumpedia Provider of the Year Award was created to recognize the extraordinary contributions of locum tenens physicians across the country. Inspired by the now-retired LocumLife magazine’s annual awards, this honor celebrates providers who exemplify adaptability, flexibility, and a dedication to serving communities in need.
To be considered, nominees must practice locum tenens in a major medical specialty and be submitted by their staffing agency for review by a panel of industry experts. This year’s winners were selected for their exceptional patient care, leadership, and impact on the facilities they serve.
We’re honored to see Dr. Brian Chan Truong recognized among this year’s winners and grateful for the vital role he plays in ensuring that every patient—no matter where they live—has access to quality care.
Providers like Dr. Truong play a vital role in expanding access to care, proving the impact locum tenens can have on communities in need. At Caliber, we believe Locum Tenens Week should be more than a weeklong celebration; it should be a spotlight on the long-term difference providers make every day. As a provider-centric organization, we know that when physicians and APPs are supported, their impact doesn’t just fill a gap, it transforms care for entire communities. This year’s NALTO theme, “Temporary Providers, Permanent Impact,” resonates deeply with us. Because while locum assignments are sometimes measured in weeks or months, the care delivered, and the trust built can span years and touch thousands of lives.
