Since 1991, National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day—celebrated annually on the first Tuesday of June—has honored the professionals working behind the scenes to ensure communities get the care they need. At Caliber, we know the impact of recruiting goes far beyond filling roles—it’s about forming relationships, advancing careers, and ultimately strengthening healthcare delivery one placement at a time.
This year, we’re celebrating the heart behind healthcare recruiting by sharing what motivates our recruiters—their “why.” From first-time placements to long-standing partnerships, each recruiter brings a deep sense of purpose to the work they do. Across our team, there’s a combined total of 102 years of healthcare recruiting experience. And every year, that impact only grows.
For many of our recruiters, what stands out most is the relationships they’ve built. “The strong relationships I’ve developed with providers are everything,” shared Master Recruiting Consultant Wendy Idoux. “Some CRNAs and physicians I’ve placed for years have become true friends. I value their loyalty and trust beyond measure.”
That same focus on connection drives Riley Roberts, Recruiting Consultant. “I take pride in being more than just a recruiter. I'm a resource, a colleague, and someone working behind the scenes to support and elevate the careers of my providers. Caring for the people who care for others is what makes this work so meaningful.”
Whether it’s a veteran recruiter nurturing years-long relationships or a newer voice helping someone take the first step, each recruiting consultant at Caliber approaches their role with humanity, trust, and genuine care.
For many, recruiting is a calling—not just a job. It’s about people, purpose, and the ripple effect each placement has on communities.
Recruiting Consultant Anjelica DeLong chose this career path with intention. “I’ve always been passionate about helping people and making an impact behind the scenes. Recruiting allows me to do both—I connect healthcare providers with opportunities that directly benefit our communities.”
Healthcare, in particular, adds an extra layer of fulfillment. “Every placement I make plays a role in supporting patient care. Knowing that my work can influence health outcomes and strengthen community well-being makes this career meaningful to me.” She also cherishes the chance to get to know providers personally and see how the right assignment can enhance not only their professional life but also their sense of purpose.
Jake Magulick, Recruiting Consultant, came to Caliber after burning out in a traditional sales role. He wanted a path where he could still use his talents—but in a way that felt more human and impactful. “I needed something more meaningful. Recruiting felt different. It wasn’t about convincing someone to buy something they didn’t need. It was about building real partnerships that make a difference in people’s lives. That’s what I was looking for, and that’s what I found in healthcare recruiting.”
What Jake values most is the trust that grows through listening. “When I interact with people, I’ve always been more of a listener than a talker. Healthcare recruiting is built on conversations—and those conversations are centered around listening to the provider. That’s how trust is built. The most rewarding thing for me is knowing that someone as important to society as a physician feels that level of trust with me.”
Each placement tells a story—and for many of our recruiters, those stories stay with them.
Wendy joked that “choosing a favorite placement is like choosing a favorite child,” but admits there's nothing quite like “placing a provider in a lucrative assignment they truly enjoy.” For her, that win-win outcome—where the provider thrives and the facility gains meaningful support—is what makes the work rewarding year after year.
For Jake, one standout memory comes from the beginning of his recruiting career. He met Dr. Pande while the physician was still in residency. “We talked about the market, what was important to him, and kept in touch. A few months later, a job opened up in California—his home state and mine—and we timed it so he could start right after finishing his training.”
That placement, nearly three years ago, sparked something lasting. “He was a new doctor and I was a rookie recruiter. Now we’re both more seasoned, and we still have that partnership. He’s currently working with us at two different hospitals. We grew into this space together. That kind of lasting trust is what makes this job so rewarding.”
To our recruiters: your work shapes careers, uplifts communities, and improves patient care in ways that often go unseen. But today, we see you—and we celebrate you.
Thank you for the dedication, empathy, and professionalism you bring to every conversation. You are the reason so many providers feel supported, seen, and empowered in their locum tenens journeys.
Happy Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day. We’re proud to recognize the “why” behind your work—today and every day.

At Caliber, we believe Locum Tenens Week should be more than a weeklong celebration; it should be a spotlight on the long-term difference providers make every day. As a provider-centric organization, we know that when physicians and APPs are supported, their impact doesn’t just fill a gap, it transforms care for entire communities. This year’s NALTO theme, “Temporary Providers, Permanent Impact,” resonates deeply with us. Because while locum assignments are sometimes measured in weeks or months, the care delivered, and the trust built can span years and touch thousands of lives.
